As the operator of this website and as a company, we come into contact with your personal data. This means any data that says something about you and can be used to identify you. This privacy policy explains how, for what purpose and on what legal basis we process your data.

The controller responsible for data processing on this website and within our company is:

General notes

How long do we store your data?

In some sections of this privacy policy, we explain how long we or companies processing data on our behalf store your data. If no period is stated, we store your data until the purpose of processing no longer applies, you object to processing or withdraw your consent.

If you object or withdraw consent, we may nevertheless continue to process your data where at least one of the following conditions applies:

  • We have compelling legitimate grounds for continuing the processing that override your interests, rights and freedoms (this applies only to objections to processing; no such grounds can justify direct marketing after an objection).
  • Processing is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims (this does not apply where the objection concerns direct marketing).
  • We are legally required to retain your data.

In such cases, we delete your data as soon as the relevant condition or conditions no longer apply.

Your rights

Right to object to data processing

WHERE THIS PRIVACY POLICY STATES THAT WE HAVE LEGITIMATE INTERESTS IN PROCESSING YOUR DATA AND THEREFORE RELY ON ARTICLE 6(1)(F) GDPR, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO OBJECT UNDER ARTICLE 21 GDPR. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO PROFILING BASED ON THAT PROVISION. YOU MUST STATE GROUNDS RELATING TO YOUR PARTICULAR SITUATION.

NO REASONS ARE REQUIRED WHERE YOUR OBJECTION CONCERNS THE USE OF YOUR DATA FOR DIRECT MARKETING.

AS A RESULT OF YOUR OBJECTION, WE MAY NO LONGER PROCESS YOUR DATA UNLESS WE CAN DEMONSTRATE COMPELLING LEGITIMATE GROUNDS THAT OVERRIDE YOUR INTERESTS, RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS, OR THE PROCESSING SERVES TO ESTABLISH, EXERCISE OR DEFEND LEGAL CLAIMS. THESE EXCEPTIONS DO NOT APPLY TO DIRECT MARKETING OR RELATED PROFILING.

Additional rights

Withdrawal of your consent to data processing

Many processing activities are based on your consent. You may grant consent, for example, by ticking the relevant box in an online form before submitting it or by allowing certain cookies when visiting our website. You may withdraw your consent at any time without giving reasons (Article 7(3) GDPR). From that point onward, we may no longer process your data on that basis.

The only exception is where we are legally required to retain data for a specific period, particularly under tax and commercial law.

Right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority

If you believe that we are violating the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Article 77 GDPR gives you the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You may contact an authority in the Member State of your residence, workplace or the place of the alleged infringement. This right exists in addition to administrative or judicial remedies.

Right to data portability

At your request, data that we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in performance of a contract must be provided to you or a third party in a commonly used, machine-readable format. We can transfer data directly to another controller only where technically feasible.

Right of access, erasure and rectification

Under Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to obtain free information about the personal data we store about you, its source, recipients and purpose. If the data is inaccurate, you have a right to rectification under Article 16 GDPR. Subject to Article 17 GDPR, you may request erasure.

Right to restriction of processing

In certain situations, Article 18 GDPR allows you to request restriction of processing. Apart from storage, the data may then be processed only with your consent, to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, to protect the rights of another natural or legal person, or for important public-interest reasons of the European Union or a Member State.

The right to restriction applies in particular where you contest the accuracy of stored data, processing is unlawful, we no longer need the data but you require it for legal claims, or while your interests and ours are being balanced following an objection.

Hosting and Content Delivery Networks (CDN)

External hosting

Our website is hosted on a server operated by the following internet service provider:

Strato AG
Otto-Ostrowski-Straße 7
10249 Berlin

How do we process your data?

The hosting provider stores all data associated with our website, including personal data collected automatically or through your input. This may include your IP address, pages visited, names, contact details and enquiries, as well as metadata and communication data. The provider follows our instructions and processes data only to the extent necessary to provide its services to us.

What is the legal basis for processing?

Because we use our website to address prospective customers and maintain relationships with existing customers, processing by our hosting provider serves to initiate and perform contracts and is based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR. We also have a legitimate interest in providing a professional online service that meets necessary security, speed and efficiency requirements. To that extent, processing is additionally based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Data collection on this website

Server log files

Server log files record all requests and access to our website, including error messages. They also contain personal data, particularly your IP address. The provider anonymises the IP address after a short period so that we can no longer associate the data with you. The data is transmitted automatically by your browser.

How do we process your data?

Our provider stores server log files to trace activity on our website and identify errors. The files include browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, hostname of the accessing device, time of the request and IP address (where applicable, anonymised).

We do not combine this data with other data and use it only for statistical analysis and to improve our website.

What is the legal basis for processing?

We have a legitimate interest in ensuring that our website operates without errors and in obtaining an anonymised overview of website access. Processing is therefore lawful under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.

Analytics tools and advertising

We use the following tools to analyse visitor behaviour and display advertising.

Matomo Analytics (locally installed)

How do we process your data?

We continually seek to optimise our online offering and the placement of advertising. Matomo Analytics, an open-source tool, helps us analyse user behaviour and provides the data needed for adjustments. Matomo uses cookies, device fingerprinting and other technologies that can recognise users across pages for behavioural analysis.

Matomo records page views, the region from which they originate, IP address, referrer, browser and operating system. It can also measure whether visitors perform certain actions. Once your IP address has been anonymised, the collected data is stored exclusively on our server.

What is the legal basis for processing?

As a website operator, we have a legitimate interest in anonymised analysis of user behaviour to optimise our online offering and advertising. Processing is therefore lawful under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where you have consented, for example, to the storage of cookies or otherwise consented to processing, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR is the sole legal basis. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect.

Google Fonts (local hosting)

We use fonts from the US company Google on our website. The fonts are installed locally, so no connection to Google’s servers is established when you visit our website.

Further information about Google Fonts is available at developers.google.com/fonts/faq and in the Google privacy policy.
